Student Parent Education and Career Planning Conferences
Student Parent Education & Career Planning
Conferencing is a process that involves activities planned and directed by school counselors that assists students in planning, monitoring, and managing their own learning, as well as their personal and career development. It is an essential component of the Comprehensive Guidance Model.
FASD calls these conferences, "SPEC's." During these SPEC's we will look at the following:
- The Student's Interests, Strengths, Co-Curricular Involvement/Volunteer and Work Experience
- High School Coursework/GPA/Class Rank
- XELLO resource including Portfolio Development
- Additional Resources
Freshman conferences will start scheduling in the 8th grade year. A parent meeting and scheduling information in May will establish a home conference in the summer before they enter high school.
Junior conferences will be scheduled for parents and students starting in October and ending in December. A parent email will be sent mid-September with scheduling details.
We are looking forward to collaborating with you and your student as they prepare to transition into the next step in their lives!
