ACT Test
The state of Wisconsin uses the ACT for statewide assessment. Every year in March, all of our juniors will take the ACT. Freedom High School will register the juniors for this test and there will not be a fee as this is a requirement of all juniors.
The ACT is a national college admission examination that consists of subject area tests in English, Math, Reading and Science. The ACT Plus Writing includes the four subject area tests and a 30-minute Writing Test. The ACT includes 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete with breaks (or just over four hours if you are taking the Writing Test.) Actual testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes (plus 30 minutes if you are taking the Writing Test).
Who should take the ACT?
All high school Juniors are required to take the ACT. College-bound students may need to take one of the college admission tests offered. Students should consult the institutions to which they are applying to determine if they require the ACT for admission. ACT scores may also be a factor for scholarship applications.
When do students take the ACT?
All Juniors will take the ACT in the spring of their junior year. It is up to the individual if they would like to take the ACT after that. FHS will register all juniors for the March test and there is not a cost. If a student decides that they want to take the test before the one that is administered at school or after the March test at FHS, the student is then responsible for registration and payment. The ACT is administered six times a year.
