The Freedom Elementary Counseling Department is a part of the district's Comprehensive School Counseling Program. Our goal is to assist all students to learn about self, learn about the world around them, and make meaningful connections between the two.The curriculum is written for all students, with many of the content topic themes being taught by homeroom and related arts staff, as well as by the counselor. Students in grades 1-5 receive classroom guidance lessons on a weekly basis. All students (PreK-5) have equal access to the counselor for individual counseling. Students may also arrange to come to the counselor's office with a small group. In addition, students can be referred by parents, teachers, or the principal.
Areas of Focus:
Content Topic Themes:
All content topic themes are presented in the classroom by the guidance counselor. However, additional lessons in these topic themes are taught by other staff members. They are also discussed during individual and small group counseling.
