The following skills may be observed in the normal language development of a three year old child:

• has a speaking vocabulary of around 1,000 words
• speaks in sentences of 3-4 words
• grammar is improving
• loves to learn short rhymes and songs
• begins to understand prepositional phrases such as "under the table"
• may ask What questions often
