S.T.E.P. (Senior Tax Exempt Program)

SENIOR TAX EXCHANGE PROGRAM (S.T.E.P)

 

The Freedom Area School District is pleased to offer the Senior Tax Exchange Program (S.T.E.P.), for the 2010-2011 School Year, through which senior citizens are given the opportunity to work, in the District and apply their earnings toward payment of school property taxes. Any senior citizen 62 years of age or older, who receives Social Security and has taxable property, within the Freedom Area School District.

 

 

HOW IS A WORKER COMPENSATED? The compensation, which is $7.25 per hour is distributed annually, in the form of a two-party check made out to the worker and the appropriate treasurer. There is a 60 hour maximum per household, per year.
