First graders read “A Penguin Story”, by Antoinette Portis.  We then used simple shapes to create our penguins out of paper.  We learned about shapes, lines, patterns and printing for the snowflakes.  We added glitter to our snowflakes because everything looks better with glitter!!!

Good questions to ask your child about their artwork:

-How did you make that?

-Can you tell me about it?

-Where did you get the idea?

-Where did you begin?

-What was your favorite part?

Have you ever created anything like this before?

-If you gave it a title, what would you call it?
